Specialist for energy efficiency in refrigeration technology
DK-Kälteanlagen GmbH is an owner-managed family business based in Emsdetten (North Rhine-Westphalia) that has specialized since January 1979 in waste heat recovery systems for refrigeration systems. The product portfolio includes DK heat recovery for drinking and heating water, DK energy storage units, DK chilled water units, DK suction gas heat exchangers, DK Water Chillers as well as waste heat recovery systems for transcritical CO2 refrigeration systems. Core components such as evaporators, tanks, double-wall internal DK safety heat exchangers and stainless steel double-pipe coolers are manufactured in-house, enabling flexible design and custom manufacturing beyond mass-produced products. Refrigeration systems are offered in the range of 5 to 500 kW. Customers come from industries such as bakeries, butcheries, gastronomy, supermarkets, agriculture, air conditioning, machine cooling, plastics processing, heat pumps and the refrigeration trade. Around 40 % of the produced waste heat recovery systems are exported, including to Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Lithuania, England and Australia.

History
- 1979
Founded in January 1979 by Manfred Drieling and Bernd Kappenberg on a former farm in Emsdetten; company name from the initials of the founders' surnames; started with the DK system for waste heat recovery from multiple refrigeration systems
- 1980
First contacts in southern Germany and South Tyrol at the IKK trade fair
- 1990
Start of partnership-based cooperation with Kühlanlagenbau Dresden (today compact Kältetechnik), including sales representation for the new federal states until 2015
- Anfang der
Expansion of the product range with the DK chilled water unit; first external double-wall shell-and-tube heat exchanger for compound systems
- 2004
Michael Kappenberg joins the management (dual leadership)
- 2008
Entry into waste heat recovery for transcritical CO2 systems at the request of two German supermarket chains
