Doculus Lumus GmbH, based in Graz (Austria), is the manufacturer of the mobile document verification device Doculus Lumus®, a handy, robust inspection instrument for the rapid authenticity check of passports, ID cards, banknotes and other official documents. The idea originated in 2013 at an RFID seminar through the meeting of the two founders with an Austrian document expert; after two years of development and testing, the first series production came onto the market in 2015. The electronically controlled device with UV illumination and magnifying optics is available in several editions (Frontline, Expert, Individual) and nine colors, and has been adopted by authorities and security agencies such as border guards, customs, and police, as well as by forensic specialists and security printers. In addition to manufacturing and distribution, the company offers services such as software updates, cleaning, minor repairs, individual logo printing and color sets. Through a partner network, customers in Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, as well as North and South America are supplied.
