About the Winery
Dominikaner Weingut C. von Nell-Breuning is a traditional winery in Kasel in the Ruwer Valley (Mosel wine-growing region), run by the von Nell-Breuning family. The main site is the six-hectare Kaseler Dominikanerberg, a steep slope with a southwesterly exposure owned exclusively by the winery, on which only Riesling is grown. Further sites are Kaseler Kehrnagel, Kaseler Hitzlay and Kaseler Nies'chen, the latter being the source of the only Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) of that site. Since 2019, the winery has worked according to biodynamic principles. The estate also includes the oldest sparkling wine manufactory in the Ruwer Valley with traditional hand riddling, as well as the Vinothek Pauliner Hof as an event venue in a former monastery from the 18th century. The wines have been awarded gold medals and the State Honor Prize of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
