About FAULHABER
Dr. Fritz Faulhaber GmbH & Co. KG is the group parent company of the Faulhaber Group, a provider of high-end miniature and micro drive technology headquartered in Schönaich (Baden-Württemberg). The company manufactures small and smallest DC motors (brushed, brushless, with integrated electronics, stepper motors and linear motors) as well as matching precision gearheads, spindles for linear drives, encoders, drive electronics and accessories up to complete small and miniature drive systems. A core element is the patented FAULHABER winding: a self-supporting, ironless rotor coil of diagonally wound copper wire, stabilized by a thermally bonded synthetic resin impregnation, which enables compact, cog-free motors with low moment of inertia. Customer-specific drive systems account for around 45 percent of production. Customers are found in medical and laboratory technology, industrial automation and robotics, metrology and test engineering, optics, semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, as well as in motorized hand-held devices and consumer products. The headquarters site comprises 22,000 m² for production, logistics and administration with approximately 600 employees; further development and production sites exist in Switzerland, Hungary and Romania.

Materials & Technologies
Copper (copper wire)
Copper wire is used for the diagonally wound, self-supporting rotor coils of the FAULHABER winding.
Synthetic resin
Thermally bonded synthetic resin impregnation stabilizes the ironless rotor coil against centrifugal forces.
Copper graphite
Material pairing of the commutation, used since 1973 in motors including those for data-processing printers.
Iron
Iron core or iron housing closes the magnetic circuit and mechanically stabilizes the motor.
