About Dresden Microdisplay

Dresden Microdisplay GmbH (DMD) was founded in April 2010 as a spin-off of the OLED department of the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS) in Dresden. The company develops, produces and sells OLED- and LCoS-based microdisplays as well as derived components such as optical lenses, monocular and binocular optical engines and development kits with electronics modules. The OLED microdisplays are based on CMOS substrates with an integrated light source and are characterized by low power consumption; an ultra-low-power QVGA display requires only 15 mW in typical operation. For applications with higher brightness requirements, DMD has offered LCoS microdisplays in HD (720p) and Full HD resolution (1080p) since 2017. For series production, customized OLED or LCoS microdisplays and modules are offered, complemented by access to GPU, indoor positioning and gesture control technologies. Customer industries include Virtual and Augmented Reality, beamers/pico projectors, electronic viewfinders in cameras as well as wearables and battery-powered portable systems.
