About Duria Crystal
Duria Crystal GmbH was founded in 2006 in Castrop-Rauxel by Harry Hambloch and Dipl. Ing. Gert Heider in order to preserve glass expertise and German glass traditions and to advise companies on glass matters. The company manufactures lighting glass and glass of all kinds, including opal glass, clear glass, coloured glass, flat glass, LED glass and speciality glasses, as well as replacement lenses made of PMMA and polycarbonate. Production includes, among other methods, mouth-blowing of glass: samples are made in wooden moulds, while series parts are produced in cast-iron moulds with partner glassworks. The value chain includes glass and tool design, toolmaking, sample production up to series maturity, as well as the in-house development and production of metal parts, glass tools and raw glass. In parallel, a professional luminaire series for general lighting was developed, whose core competence is the combination of state-of-the-art LED technology with opal glass. Reference projects include the historic luminaires for Straubing Town Hall, created in collaboration with architecture and lighting design offices from Munich.
