About Dwatts
Dwatts is a local renewable energy cooperative (Coopérative locale d'énergies renouvelables) based in Die in the Drôme valley. The cooperative develops, finances and operates renewable energy generation facilities on its own territory, including photovoltaic rooftop installations on collectively used roofs, renewable heat installations and wind energy projects. Building owners receive a financial compensation payment for the use of their roofs, which for example co-finances construction projects of agricultural businesses. The generated electricity is sold in a local short circuit via collective self-consumption (Autoconsommation Collective) without a contract or subscription; an example is the 111-kWc installation on an agricultural farm building in Luc-en-Diois producing around 150 MWh per year. In addition, private individuals, companies and municipalities can invest in energy transition projects. Customers include municipalities such as Die, industrial companies such as Nateva and Palfinger France as well as retail and service providers such as L'Avant-Poste and the Brasserie Après l'Orage.
