About DWK Drahtwerk Köln
DWK Drahtwerk Köln GmbH produces technically sophisticated steel wires in Cologne-Mülheim, with a company history dating back to 1873. The product range comprises patented-drawn and quenched-and-tempered spring steel wire made from unalloyed C steels as well as SiCr- and SiCrV-alloyed steels, prestressing steel wire and 7-wire prestressing strands for construction, and special steel wires such as rope wires, cable armouring wires and wires for stamped and bent parts. Manufacturing includes wire drawing with tolerances of ±0.020 to ±0.050 mm, patenting (air and in-line patenting), hardening and tempering, and surface finishing by galvanizing and ZnAl coating. In the drawing process, an in-line crack test is performed by eddy current over the entire wire length. The company belongs to the Saarstahl Group and supplies, among others, the automotive industry, the construction industry, mechanical engineering as well as the rope and cable industry. Deliveries are made in coils, rings, bars and steel spools in various packaging formats.

Quality
The processes are governed by a process-oriented quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015; quality-relevant characteristics are continuously monitored on site and in the quality department. The wire surface is inspected during the drawing process by eddy-current in-line crack testing over the entire length.
