About E-Werke Frastanz
E-Werke Frastanz is a licensed energy supply company in Frastanz in Vorarlberg and has been supplying the market municipality of Frastanz and parts of Nenzing with electrical energy since 1910. The company generates electricity and heat from renewable energy: three hydropower plants with a total of four turbines (two Francis turbines with 840 and 1130 kW respectively, two Ossberger through-flow turbines with 500 and 195 kW respectively), a bio-heat power plant with 1.6 MW (90% biomass), combined heat and power units and photovoltaic systems. In addition, with around 80 employees the company offers electrical systems engineering, electrical installation, an electrical retail store, cable TV (DreischwesternTV), fibre-optic internet as well as energy consulting and grid service. The company is entirely privately owned and trains apprentices in five apprenticeship professions; in 1998 it was awarded the distinction of Outstanding Training Company. Since 2006, energy trading has been operated on an operational-management basis with the VKW; electricity supply to household and commercial customers will be discontinued as of 1 January 2026.
