About EBL Energie Rigi
EBL Energie Rigi is an umbrella brand of EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland) and bundles the expertise of three subsidiaries: EBL Fernwärme Rigi AG, EBL Energiezentrum Rigi AG and EBL Pellets Rigi AG. The company supplies most of the district of Küssnacht am Rigi as well as the Lucerne municipalities of Greppen and Adligenswil with CO₂-neutral district heating based on regional energy sources such as waste and recycled wood as well as residual wood from the neighbouring Schilliger Holz AG. At the Haltikon energy centre in Küssnacht am Rigi, a wood-fired combined heat and power plant generates electricity and heat from residual wood, waste wood and forest wood chips: the resulting steam drives a turbine for electricity generation, and the waste heat is fed into the district heating network. EBL Pellets Rigi AG produces wood pellets from regional residual wood for B2B customers. The district heating network is continuously being expanded; a new main line will connect the Haltikon energy centre with the network in Adligenswil (commissioning expected mid to late 2028). The headquarters is the Haltikon energy centre in Küssnacht am Rigi.
