About ecoverde

ecoverde AG, headquartered in Gansingen (canton of Aargau, Switzerland), was founded in 2018 by Jetlum Memedi and Stevens Senn. The company offers tree partnerships: on previously fallow agricultural land in North Macedonia, the home country of founder Jetlum Memedi, ecoverde plants Kiri trees. The Kiri tree is a fast-growing species that binds an above-average amount of CO2; one tree produces one cubic metre of timber within seven years, storing around 550 kg of CO2 in the process. Tree partners receive Gold Standard CO2 credits annually, which they can use to offset, retire, donate or trade, as well as returns from timber sales after six, seven and eight years. Irrigation is provided via a drip irrigation system using water from local wells; the plots are monitored around the clock. Harvesting is carried out sustainably on an annual cycle, covering one third of the area each time. The plantation is operated by the subsidiary ecoverde AG DOOEL Gostivar; the company employs around 40 staff.
