About Edwin Schmitt – Lasertechnik
Edwin Schmitt – Lasertechnik GmbH (SLT) was founded in 1994 in Kalchreuth near Erlangen and manufactures high-precision metal and precision parts using laser fine processing – from one-off pieces from lot size 1 to series production. The service portfolio includes fine cutting from 0.025 mm material thickness, low-distortion micro welding, wear-resistant laser marking, CNC bending and forming, as well as surface treatment by sandblasting, matting and layer removal. Production is carried out without stamping tools directly from CAD data, with tolerances in the hundredth-millimetre range and burr-free, oxide-free cuts. Materials: stainless steel and steel foils, aluminium alloys, copper and copper alloys, titanium, tantalum, molybdenum, tungsten, precious and non-ferrous metal foils, ceramics and electrical steel sheets. With ten in-house laser systems, 4-axis machining centres and 2D CNC metrology, the company serves industries such as electronics and microtechnology, medical technology, sensor technology, automotive, aerospace and special machinery with its 23 employees. Processes are certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.

Materials & Processes
Laser fine cutting
Contactless cutting from 0.025 mm material thickness with burr-free, oxide-free edges and tolerances in the hundredth-millimetre range – with no tool costs from a quantity of 1.
Micro welding
Low-distortion laser joining of delicate components, including stainless steel, aluminium, copper, brass and bronze.
Laser marking
Wear-resistant marking of components, also in series production.
Bending and forming
CNC-controlled TruBend Cell for sheet metal 0.05–3.0 mm and lengths up to 500 mm; delicate parts can additionally be bent manually.
Surface treatment
Sandblasting, matting as well as paint and layer removal with corundum 40–180 µm on components up to 180 mm edge length.
Stainless steel & steel foils
Fine-cut foil parts from 0.025 mm for electronics, medical technology and sensor technology.
Aluminium alloys (AlMg3, Al99, AlMgSi1, anodised)
Lightweight precision parts, also with anodised surfaces, for engineering and industry.
Copper and copper alloys
Including brass (CuZn), bronze (CuSn) and nickel silver (CuNi18Zn20) for electrically conductive and decorative parts.
Titanium, tantalum, molybdenum, tungsten
High-performance metals for medical technology, aerospace and special applications.
Silver and gold foils
Precious metal foils for electronics and microtechnology applications.
Ceramics & electrical steel sheets
Special laser processing of non-metallic and electrotechnical materials.
