About ELAC

ELAC was founded on 1 September 1926 in Kiel as Electroacustic GmbH and began with pioneering work in sonar technology and the study of the behavior of sound in air and water. In 1948 the company presented its first consumer audio product, the PW1 turntable, and has since built a tradition in turntables and electronics. In the 1970s and 1980s, ELAC became synonymous with precision engineering and musical excellence. Today the product range comprises complete series of loudspeakers, subwoofers, electronics and turntables for high fidelity, home theater, custom install and multimedia. Notable technical milestones include the omnidirectional 4Pi tweeter (1985) and the JET AMT tweeter, continuously developed since 1993. Sales are handled worldwide through distributors and dealers; ELAC Americas Inc. in Orange (California) is responsible for the USA and Canada, while ELAC Electroacustic GmbH, based in Kiel, covers the rest of the world.
