About ELMITEC

ELMITEC Elektronenmikroskopie GmbH develops, produces and maintains ultrahigh-vacuum cathode-lens surface electron microscopes (LEEM and PEEM) as well as accessories for these and other surface science instruments. Founded in 1995 and based in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, the company emerged from the working group of Prof. Ernst Bauer, the inventor of the low-energy electron microscope (LEEM); most employees come from this group and have many years of experience in UHV electron microscopy and surface instrumentation. The approximately 17 employees manufacture the microscopes custom-built, including systems with aberration correction (AC). Customers include research institutes and universities in the USA, Europe, China and Japan as well as operators of electron accelerators worldwide; about half of the customers are located in China and Japan. As a small company, ELMITEC can flexibly adapt instruments to customer requirements, with a particular focus on UHV compatibility.
