About Emcotherm
Emcotherm is a company specialising in technical ceramics, based in Aachen. The company manufactures ceramic components and parts for industries such as the ceramics industry, thermal treatment, industrial furnace construction, mechanical and apparatus engineering, and environmental technology. Manufacturing is carried out, among other methods, by traditional casting, thermoplastic casting, pressing, extrusion and injection moulding; for prototypes and samples, processes with low tooling costs are used, and after successful qualification, transfer to more economical industrial processes such as pressing is possible. The product range includes insulation supports, consumables, kiln furniture such as setter plates, as well as tubes such as thermocouple protection tubes, pyrometer tubes and feedthroughs. In addition to manufacturing, Emcotherm offers consulting and engineering, project planning, design, delivery, and, if required, installation, commissioning and after-sales service from a single source. In the field of environment and energy, the company develops solutions to reduce total energy consumption, such as heat exchanger systems, burner control and flue gas routing, as well as the use of NSiC plates as a replacement for cordierite.

Materials and Processes
NSiC (nitride-bonded silicon carbide)
Used as plates with lower mass and heat storage capacity as a replacement for cordierite in sanitary ceramics.
SSiC (densely sintered silicon carbide)
Used, among other applications, for mechanical seals in mechanical and apparatus engineering.
Cordierite
Material in the field of sanitary ceramics that is increasingly being replaced by more modern materials such as NSiC.
Fireclay
Lining material in industrial furnace construction.
Insulating firebricks
Insulating material for use in furnace construction.
Technical Ceramics
Components with high wear resistance, temperature resistance and corrosion resistance for plant and apparatus engineering.
