About Energie Ausserschwyz
Energie Ausserschwyz AG (EASZ), headquartered in Galgenen, supplies the Ausserschwyz region in the canton of Schwyz with CO2-neutral district heat and electricity. At the Bodenwiese energy centre in Galgenen, the company has been producing heat and electricity since 2021 in a wood-fired cogeneration plant fuelled by waste, residual and forest wood; a biogas plant with a combined heat and power unit supplements generation. The heat is delivered via a supra-regional pipeline network to buildings of all kinds – from properties in Altendorf and Lachen to the supply of Pfäffikon from 2024. The company offers consulting on switching to district heating, construction of district heating pipelines including house connections, operation of heat transfer stations, and guided tours of the wood-fired cogeneration plant. By the end of 2025, the network spanned around 30 km with more than 250 connected heat customers in the districts of March and Höfe. The main shareholder is EW Höfe AG; other shareholders include Züger Unternehmungen AG, Brugg Group AG, IWB and the Energiegenossenschaft Ausserschwyz energy cooperative.
