About ehw
Energiehandelsgesellschaft West (ehw), based in Münster, is a trading house for electricity and natural gas. Founded in 1998 by seven municipal utilities for joint wholesale procurement following market liberalisation, the company today supplies shareholders and customers with flexible, wholesale-based electricity and natural gas delivery products. Its 19 employees manage trading volumes of around 10 TWh of electricity and 6 TWh of natural gas, traded on the EEX futures and spot exchanges as well as bilaterally on the OTC market and, since 2004, on the Dutch natural gas trading hub TTF. The portfolio includes demand forecasting, nationwide logistics, balancing group and portfolio management, the marketing of around 235 MW of fossil generation capacity, direct marketing of renewable energies totalling around 100 MW, as well as storage and biomethane marketing. Since 2007, the entire range of services has also been open to utilities outside the circle of shareholders; in addition, customised delivery products are developed for large industrial end customers.
