About EKD

Energiekonzepte Deutschland GmbH (EKD) was founded in 2018 in Leipzig and offers complete solutions for private and commercial energy supply. The company distributes and installs solar systems, electricity storage units, wallboxes, heat pumps and grid backup power systems nationwide, including consulting, planning and project engineering as an all-inclusive package. The company's own Ampere products – solar modules, storage systems and the Ampere.IQ energy manager – are sourced via partner manufacturer Ampere German Electric Innovation GmbH and intelligently combined with the dynamic electricity tariff EKD Flow. Customers include private households, commercial businesses and public institutions. EKD employs around 400 permanent staff at its Leipzig site, plus around 2,300 sales representatives and 70 installation partner companies. Since 2018, more than 45,000 systems have been implemented; revenue in 2023 was around 500 million euros. In 2026, an insolvency petition was filed while continuing business operations.

1. 2018

   Founded in Leipzig by Mathias Hammer (previously founder of SENEC).

2. 2022

   Financing commitment in the hundreds of millions from Pemberton Asset Management; revenue approx. 260 million euros.

3. 2023

   Revenue around 500 million euros; preparation for a possible sale; Mathias Hammer nominated for "Saxony's Entrepreneur of the Year".

4. 2024

   Acquisition by Pemberton Asset Management; more than 40,000 solar systems installed; third-largest solar company in Europe in the end-customer segment.

5. 2025

   EKD acquired by Pemberton.

6. 2026

   Insolvency petition filed for all company divisions while continuing business operations; reason: withdrawal of owner Pemberton.
