About Energies Partagées en Alsace

Energies Partagées en Alsace is a French cooperative (SAS à capital variable) founded in 2010 and based in Kingersheim, which as a citizen energy community develops, finances and operates renewable electricity generation projects in Alsace. The focus is photovoltaics on public and private roof surfaces such as schools, churches, community halls and agricultural buildings. The company manages twelve photovoltaic systems on its own account and has co-financed six more cross-border projects through the company Altora PV; in total, 18 systems with around 1.2 MWc of installed capacity are in operation. Financing is provided through citizen participation, own funds, regional subsidies and bank loans; the electricity generated is marketed via feed-in tariffs as well as collective self-consumption models (autoconsommation collective). The company is non-profit oriented, is run by a voluntary administrative committee and had over 300 shareholders. It is registered as PMO (Personne Morale Organisatrice) with the grid operators.
