About EDCL

Energy Development Company Limited (EDCL) was founded in 1995 to participate in the Indian programme for the development of renewable energy. The company generates electricity from hydropower and wind power in its own power plant facilities and develops energy and infrastructure projects for other developers. EDCL offers total hydropower solutions for small and large hydropower plants, including feasibility studies, project management, EPC services (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and turnkey delivery. In addition, the company undertakes operation and maintenance (O&M) of hydropower plants on a third-party basis as well as rehabilitation, renovation, modernisation and uprating (RM&U) of older plants. EDCL currently operates 19 MW of renewable energy capacity and is developing 291 MW of hydropower projects at various stages; the target is around 500 MW of new hydropower capacity over the next 5–7 years. The headquarters is located in Kolkata, West Bengal.
