About Ennskraft
Ennskraftwerke AG (Ennskraft) was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Steyr, Upper Austria. The company is owned 50 percent each by VERBUND AG and Energie AG Oberösterreich. Ennskraft operates a total of 14 hydropower plants, twelve on the Enns and two on the Steyr, and uses the natural water resources of a catchment area of around 6,100 square kilometres to generate electricity from renewable hydropower. With an average annual total generation of around 1,872 million kWh, the company is one of the large Austrian electricity producers from hydropower. After plant construction, the focus is on plant operation, maintenance and the continuous modernisation and optimisation of the facilities from technical and ecological perspectives. The energy generated is supplied to VERBUND, Energie AG Oberösterreich and the Austrian Federal Railways (railway traction current 16.7 Hz); in addition, Ennskraft is active in drinking water treatment.
