About EnviroPlast
EnviroPlast is a RUBIN alliance (consortium) of 25 funded and associated partners from business and science that establishes bioeconomic value creation in the Lausitz region. The goal is the production and use of environmentally sound technical plastic components made from biogenic residual materials, especially for the automotive and construction industries. The alliance develops eco-friendly alternatives to fossil-based plastics by utilizing fibrous residual materials such as wood residues, straw and green waste. In Germany, around 200 million tonnes of such residual materials are generated annually, which have so far mostly been burned or used only for low-value purposes. The approach covers the entire spectrum of bioeconomic value creation from harvesting through application to recycling and is structured into three joint projects. In doing so, EnviroPlast also contributes to the structural transformation of the region.
