About EG Südbayern

Erzeugergemeinschaft Südbayern eG, headquartered in Pocking, is a farmer-run self-help and marketing cooperative that has been active as a trading partner for regional agriculture since 1967. The company's purpose is to adapt the production and sale of slaughter pigs, slaughter cattle, piglets, calves and feeder cattle to market requirements, as well as joint marketing under common production and quality rules. The cooperative holds a 49% stake in two modern slaughterhouses in Landshut and Vilshofen (EG Südbayern Schlachtbetriebs GmbH) and operates species-appropriate livestock transports with its own vehicle fleet, supplemented by experienced contract hauliers. More than 10,000 members form the backbone of the organisation, which has been extended across the whole of southern Bavaria through several mergers of regional producer cooperatives. Locations are situated in Pocking, Essenbach-Altheim, Ampfing (Dirlafing), Nittenau and Waidhofen. As of July 2025, 51% of the shares in the slaughterhouse operating company were sold to Norbert Marcher GmbH.
