About ES Automobilguss

ES Automobilguss GmbH, most recently trading as Eisenwerk Erzgebirge 1566 GmbH, was a German automotive supplier and foundry headquartered in Frankfurt am Main with its production site in the Schönheide district of Schönheiderhammer (Saxony). The company produced castings made of spheroidal graphite cast iron (spheroidal cast iron, unalloyed and alloyed) as well as black and pearlitic malleable cast iron. Products included, among others, differential gear housings, rocker arms and brake carriers for major automobile manufacturers and automotive suppliers. Further customers came from the construction industry, agriculture and general industry, for which fittings were produced. The company's history dates back to the Schönheiderhammer hammer mill built in 1566; during the GDR era, the VEB Gießerei und Modellbau Schönheiderhammer operated at the same site. In 2021, the company filed for insolvency with a final workforce of 91 employees; the closure was announced in September 2021.
