About ESM GmbH

ESM Energie- und Schwingungstechnik Mitsch GmbH is a specialist in vibration technology headquartered in Heppenheim an der Bergstraße. The family-owned company, founded in 1996 by Franz Mitsch, develops and manufactures standard and custom solutions for isolating, damping and reducing vibrations in plants and machinery. The product portfolio includes yaw brakes (surface brakes) for wind turbines, gearbox mounts based on the principle of elastomer hydraulics, couplings and rubber-metal composites in the direct force path. According to its own statements, ESM has equipped well over 100,000 wind turbines with its rubber-metal composites and sells its in-house developments worldwide, including to the wind energy, crane and drive technology sectors as well as general mechanical engineering. Quality, on-time delivery and safety are core elements of the company's policy; the company is certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 and DIN ISO 45001:2018 and is recognized as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO). At the Heppenheim site, office and production buildings are operated to passive house standard, and the energy requirement is covered by photovoltaics and the company's own wind turbines.

Materials and Processes

EMV

Rubber-metal composites (elastomer-metal composite)

Elastomer-metal composite components in the direct force path for vibration isolation, in-house development for wind turbines.

EH

Elastomer hydraulics

Functional principle using an elastomer and a leak-free, closed hydraulic system, among other things for gearbox mounts and surface brakes.

FB

Surface brake with elasto-hydraulic cushion

Generates braking force via an elasto-hydraulic cushion instead of guided pistons; leak-free and compact.

AVB

Axially pre-tensionable bushing

Bushing for torque transmission with compensation of small axial and angular errors, easy to assemble without pressing in.
