About Essmanns Backstube
Essmanns Backstube is a traditional family bakery based in Altenberge in the Münsterland, run in the fifth generation since 1845. The bakery produces fresh-from-the-oven baked goods such as breads, rolls and sweet pastries every day, crafted with long dough resting times, high-quality ingredients and no premixes. The products are sold at around 70 locations throughout the Münsterland – in the company's own cafés offering breakfast, in branches inside supermarkets, at the DriveIn-Café Steinfurt and at Rheine main station. The company values regional roots and has operated its own energy management with a photovoltaic system since 2010. For its baked goods and philosophy, the company has repeatedly been awarded the MeisterWerkNRW seal by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Managing Director Matthias Essmann joined the family business in 1991 as master baker and confectioner of the fifth generation.
