About EUCAR
EUCAR is the European Council for Automotive R&D of the major European manufacturers of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The organisation facilitates and coordinates pre-competitive research and development projects; its members participate in a broad range of collaborative European R&D programmes. The nine members are BMW Group, DAF Trucks, Honda R&D Europe, Hyundai Motor Europe, Iveco Group, Renault Group, Volkswagen Group, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group. EUCAR is legally part of the ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers' Association) with independent decision-making for R&D. With more than €85 billion annually, the European vehicle manufacturers are Europe's largest private R&D investors. The operational work takes place in Expert Groups and Strategic Areas; the EUCAR Office is located in Brussels. Example projects are the Horizon 2020 battery projects 3BELIEVE (€10.8 million) and SAFELiMOVE (€7.8 million) for the advancement of lithium-ion and solid-state battery technologies.
