About the Europa Verlag

The Europa Verlag was founded in 1933 by Emil Oprecht in Switzerland as an exile publishing house, in order to provide a forum for persecuted authors and banned manuscripts. The programme comprises non-fiction, fiction, crime and thriller novels, as well as audiobooks, eBooks and pocketbooks with a focus on politics, society, Europe, human rights and German history. The publishing tradition stands for democracy, freedom and human dignity; the programme includes numerous titles against the far right, antisemitism and völkisch racism. Since 2012 the publisher Christian Strasser has been the owner; in 2015 he acquired the Europa-Verlag AG Zurich, and since 2017 the Berlin-based Golkonda Verlag has belonged to the house. The head office is located in Munich, with a branch in Berlin. After self-administered insolvency proceedings in 2019, Strasser bought back all rights in 2020. Distribution is handled through publishing representatives in the German-speaking region.
