About ECRE
The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) is an alliance of 129 non-governmental organisations from 40 European countries that campaigns for the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and other forcibly displaced persons in Europe as well as in Europe's external relations. Its work is divided into three areas: legal support and strategic litigation (Legal Support and Litigation), policy advocacy (Advocacy), and communications and public relations. ECRE operates the Asylum Information Database (AIDA), containing information on asylum procedures, reception conditions and detention in 23 countries, as well as the European Database of Asylum Law (EDAL) with case law summaries from 22 EU member states, the CJEU and the ECtHR. The ELENA network connects around 500 legal practitioners in most European states. The ECRE Secretariat is based in an office in Brussels in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (Belgium); publications include the Weekly Bulletin, Policy Notes and Reports.
