About the EEC

The European Electric Steelmaking Conference (EEC) is an international specialist conference on electric steel production, initiated and organized by the Steel Institute VDEh. It serves as a meeting point for steel producers, plant manufacturers, suppliers, research institutes, and universities from all over the world to discuss current technologies and developments in the field of electric melting. The program includes over 90 presentations on topics such as arc furnace technologies, the melting of DRI/HBI, energy efficiency, and strategies for climate-neutral steel production. The conference is accompanied by a specialist exhibition, evening events, and factory visits, which offer opportunities for exchange and networking. The 13th EEC took place from June 3rd to 7th, 2024, with over 350 participants at the Philharmonie Essen.
