About evico
evico GmbH was founded in 2004 as a spin-off from the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research (IFW Dresden) and specializes in technological applications of superconductivity. The company manufactures superconducting cryostats (LEK MT, ZEK DS, SupraUnit) for contactless handling using superconducting magnetic bearings, custom laboratory cryostats, and systems for cryogenic processes such as nitrogen re-cooling cryostats. In addition, evico produces textured nickel-tungsten alloy substrate tapes as carrier material for high-temperature superconducting tapes (coated conductors) on a manufacturing line with a capacity of more than 1000 km of tape per year. Production is carried out in small to medium volumes up to series maturity, among others in stainless steel, aluminium and glass- or carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics. Customers include Festo, IFW Dresden, KIT and Lexus/CHI & Partners.
