About Botanical Extracts
The Botanical Extracts business unit of Evonik develops and produces customized plant extracts from leaves, flowers, roots and other plant materials. The portfolio comprises more than 1,000 plant species and over 2,500 extract variants, including certified organic qualities as well as distillates and extracts made from co-raw materials (upcycling of plant-based secondary raw materials). The extracts are produced in a CO2-neutral extraction plant in Switzerland (GHG Scope 1 & 2), which has been sustainability-certified since 2012, complemented by an extraction facility in Argentina near the biodiversity hotspots of Latin America. The business is based on the companies Botanica and Novachem acquired by Evonik. As a member of the DNA & Cosmetics Consortium, species identification is safeguarded; many botanicals are traceable all the way back to the cultivation field. Through the FLORAVERA™ product line, active ingredients with bibliographically validated efficacy are offered. Target industries are personal care & beauty as well as natural and organic cosmetics.
