Tradition and Progress
Ewald-Gelatine GmbH is a family-owned company founded in 1886 and based in Bad Sobernheim on the Nahe river, specializing in the production of leaf gelatine, powdered gelatine, Halal gelatine, organic gelatine and collagen hydrolysates. The majority of the porcine gelatine is made from pork rind, which undergoes a washing process, a gentle acid treatment and extraction with water at a pH of approx. 3 to 4. After filtration, concentration by ultrafiltration and a multi-stage evaporation plant as well as short-time sterilization, drying to powdered gelatine takes place in the 45-metre-long drying tunnel or via a special drying process for leaf gelatine. In addition to conventional products, the company produces Halal thin-leaf gelatine from Halal bovine powdered gelatine and manufactures collagen hydrolysates to customer specifications. Powdered and leaf gelatine are packed in a highly automated process with individual packaging sizes and designs, from 9 g sachets to 1,000 kg big bags.
