EXTEND3D GmbH, part of the Atlas Copco Group, develops and markets dynamic 3D augmented reality systems for worker assistance in the Industry 4.0 environment at its Munich location. The patented WERKLICHT technology combines digital plan, measurement and simulation data with reality by projecting CAD data, work instructions and measurement results true to position directly onto the workpiece. The product range includes the dynamic laser projection systems WERKLICHT Pro L and Pro S with an accuracy of up to 0.1 mm/m as well as the video projector WERKLICHT Video with an accuracy of up to one pixel. The systems serve as a digital template in assembly, welding (tacking of weld parts, positioning of studs), painting, quality assurance and rework; physical positioning and inspection templates are eliminated. Thanks to Workflow Awareness, data on component positioning and tool usage flows back to the digital twin; the system can be connected to PLC/control systems via a network API and imports all common CAD formats. Customers include companies from the automotive industry, mechanical and plant engineering, shipbuilding and aircraft construction, as well as research and university teaching.
