About EXTRA Aircraft

EXTRA Aircraft is a manufacturer of high-performance sport and aerobatic aircraft based at Dinslaken/Schwarze Heide airfield in Hünxe, North Rhine-Westphalia. The company was founded in 1980 as Extra Flugzeugbau by aerobatic pilot and aircraft designer Walter Extra and has since produced more than 850 aircraft, from the original Extra 230 to the current Extra NG and 330SX. Production includes wings and components made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) as well as steel-tube fuselage structures; the Extra 230 also historically used wood construction. The model range extends from the single-seat Extra 330SC aerobatic aircraft through the two-seat 330LX and 330LT variants to the Extra NG. The aircraft are certified for load factors of ±10 g and dominate international competitions; at the 2019 World Championship, 47 of 61 pilots flew an EXTRA. Worldwide production is approximately three aircraft per month. Since 2024, the company has maintained a global network of certified maintenance partners.
