Extruder Experts. Wear parts with system
Extruder Experts is a manufacturer and service provider of wear parts for co-rotating twin-screw extruders. The company manufactures barrels in three designs (solid barrels, bushing barrels, directly HIP-clad barrels), screw elements such as conveying and backward-conveying elements, mixers and kneaders as well as drive shafts. Manufacturing takes place on modern CNC machines using a broad spectrum of materials, from nitriding and tool steels through to PM-HIP wear bushings with 60% tungsten carbide in a nickel base as well as cobalt- and nickel-based hardfacing coatings. In addition to new production, the offering includes maintenance and inspection with sensor-based wear measurement and endoscopy, assembly and disassembly, repair and overhaul of barrels and equipped screws, as well as modernization and optimization, e.g. conversion to involute gearing. Customers come from compounding, plastics processing, food and feed. The company has been based in Monschau since 2006 and supplies customers in Europe and beyond.

Materials and processes
Nitriding steel
Standard material for one-piece solid barrels of twin-screw extruders.
PM-HIP wear bushings with 60% WC in nickel base
Highly wear-resistant bushings for extreme abrasive loads in the barrel.
Stellite
Hardfacing material for wear-exposed barrel components.
Hot isostatic pressing (HIP)
A sintered powder layer of approx. 2–3 mm produces directly HIP-clad barrels with a wear-resistant coating.
Heat-treated high-alloy tool steel
Standard material for drive shafts subject to high bending fatigue and torsional loads.
Cobalt- and nickel-based hardfacing coatings
Coating of screw flights for intensive loads in food and feed applications.
