About FAMETEC
FAMETEC GmbH is an Austrian company headquartered in Leonding, Upper Austria, specialized in the production of monocrystalline sapphire ingots and substrates. The company was spun off from the EBNER Group in 2020 and builds on its more than 75 years of experience in furnace engineering. It is based on the patented McSAP technology (Multi-c-axis sapphire), a modified Heat Exchanger Method (HEM) that enables the simultaneous growth of several sapphire crystals along any crystal axis and dispenses with elaborate core drilling and grinding processes. a-axis and c-axis ingots and wafers with 150 mm (in production) and 200 mm (available) diameters are manufactured; 300 mm is in development. Boules reach diameters of up to 210 mm with heights of up to 220 mm. Customers are found in the semiconductor industry (LED, MiniLED, MicroLED, PowerGaN/power electronics), in optics, as well as for watch glasses and windows. The ARCTIC Sapphire production site in Sulitjelma, Norway, operates entirely on hydropower and produces sapphire with roughly 60% lower energy consumption.
