About Fassmanufaktur Mattern

Fassmanufaktur Mattern GmbH in Haßloch (Palatinate) produces custom wooden barrels, wine barrels, barriques, large casks and fermentation vats using traditional cooperage craftsmanship. Every barrel is made as a one-off, tailored to barrel size, construction method, wood type (Palatinate or French oak) and toasting. In addition to new production, the range of services includes barrel repair and restoration, cellar installation and barrel assembly, relocation and maintenance of wooden barrels, as well as personal consulting for wineries and distilleries. Selected oak woods from the Palatinate and France form the basis of barrel construction. Owner and master cooper Ralf Mattern brings over 25 years of experience in barrel making and wood processing; the company is a member of the Association of the German Barrel and Wine Cooper Trade (Verband des Deutschen Fass- und Weinküferhandwerk e.V.).
