About FAUN
The FAUN Group, headquartered in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, manufactures refuse collection vehicles, sweepers and FAUN bodies for municipal waste management and city cleaning. The company originated from the iron foundry Fahrzeugfabrik Ansbach und Nürnberg founded in 1545 by Justus Christian Braun; the name FAUN was created through the merger of the plants in Ansbach and Nuremberg. At the main plant in Osterholz-Scharmbeck, around 550 employees produce approximately 1.600 refuse vehicles per year on 30.000 m² of production space – including compactor refuse vehicles of the POWERPRESS series, lifters and bodies with alternative drives such as the world's first hydrogen-powered refuse truck. Sweepers of the CITY, PRO and POWER classes (including CITYJET and VIAJET) as well as the autonomous electric sweeper Trombia Free are built at FAUN Viatec GmbH in Grimma, where FAUN has been producing since 1992 with 180 employees. Dirt containers are made, among other things, from stainless steel. The Kirchhoff Group based in Iserlohn also belongs to the corporate group.
