About Feistritzwerke
Feistritzwerke-STEWEAG GmbH was founded in 1905 by the municipality of Gleisdorf to supply electricity and today operates the second-largest electricity distribution network by area in Styria. The company plans, builds and operates electricity distribution and communication systems, runs a network of around 5,112 km of line length with over 63,000 metering points in a network area of 1,115 km² and supplies around 50,000 customers. In addition, the company operates several of its own hydropower plants, including the Stubenbergklamm power plant, the Gliederwehr power plant on the Raab river, and the run-of-river power plants St. Johann, Edelsee and Neudörfl. Since 2018, Feistritzwerke has been engaged in large-scale broadband expansion and offers pure fiber-optic internet (FTTH) as an open-access network. Further services include the planning, installation and operation of LED lighting systems for municipalities and sports facility operators as well as support for energy communities (GEA, EEG, BEG). Since 2011, the company no longer acts as an electricity supplier, but concentrates on its role as a distribution network operator with services relating to grid connection, smart meters and cable information.
