About Fertigungstechnik Weißenfels GmbH

Fertigungstechnik Weißenfels GmbH (FTW) is a medium-sized mechanical engineering company with many years of experience in rotary table and fixture construction. The company is a specialist for workpiece positioning in machining centers as well as for special-purpose machine solutions and has been a principal supplier to the machine tool industry for many years. Its range of services includes NC rotary tables with direct rotary drive (torque drive) at up to 1,000 revolutions per minute, rotary tables with conventional worm and bevel gear drive, as well as multi-axis swivel systems for 5-sided machining. In addition, FTW manufactures fixtures and develops special-purpose machines, optionally with combined turn-mill operations in a single setup. A patented hydraulic clamping system is more compact and stiffer than conventional clamping solutions. Runout and axial runout tolerances of less than 2 µm as well as, with compensation, positioning accuracy below one arc second document the company's demand for precision. Around 100 employees work in a company building newly constructed in 2001 on approximately 8,000 m² in Weißenfels near Leipzig. A service offering with a 24/7 hotline supports the products throughout their entire life cycle.

Processes and Drive Concepts

Torque

NC rotary table with direct rotary drive (torque drive)

Thanks to the directly driven outer rotor, high rotational speeds, high acceleration, no mechanical wear and, optionally, turn-mill operations in a single setup.

SKR

NC rotary table with conventional drive (worm and bevel gear)

High transmittable torques with virtually backlash-free adjustment and readjustable worm clearance via duplex worm drives.

5A

Multi-axis swivel system

Driven by torque motor, worm gear or a combination, for machining highly complex contours and 5-sided machining.

HK

Patented hydraulic clamping system

A more compact, stiffer and more precise clamping solution compared to other clamping systems on the market.

Quality and Certification

Internal processes are based on the ISO 9001 guidelines and are regularly audited and certified. Runout and axial runout tolerances below 2 µm as well as positioning accuracy below one arc second (with compensation) are measured and documented.
