About fibrisTerre
fibrisTerre Systems GmbH, based in Berlin, is a manufacturer of Distributed Fiber-Optic Sensing (DFOS) instrumentation. The patented Brillouin-based method (BOFDA/BOFDR) enables continuous detection and localization of the smallest strain and temperature changes along a single optical fiber sensor cable over distances of more than 50 km, with spatial resolution down to less than one meter. The product range includes the fTB 5020 interrogator, application-specific sensing cables in metallic and non-metallic versions (tight-buffered for strain, loose-tube for temperature), monitoring software, cloud-based data storage, as well as project management and data analysis. The systems are used, among others, in geotechnics and civil engineering, renewable energy, power cables, pipelines, boreholes, mining and nuclear disposal, as well as in research and development. Headquarters, R&D and manufacturing are located on Torellstraße in Berlin; through a network of specialist integrators and partners, the technology is installed in monitoring projects worldwide.

Technologies & Cable Types
Distributed Brillouin Sensing (BOFDA/BOFDR)
Patented Brillouin method for continuous strain and temperature measurement along the entire optical fiber route.
Strain Sensing Cable (Tight-buffered)
Tightly buffered sensing cable that directly couples mechanical deformation of the structure to the measuring fiber.
Temperature Sensing Cable (Loose-Tube)
Loose-tube cable with excess fiber length for mechanical decoupling, for pure temperature measurement.
Metallic cable versions
Robust cable constructions for installation in soil and rigid structures.
Non-metallic cable versions
Cable designs without metallic elements, among others for applications with special environmental requirements.
Optical Fiber (lightwave conductor)
The glass fiber itself acts as a continuous sensor along the entire measuring section.

Reliability & Accuracy
Brillouin frequency-based measurement offers excellent long-term stability after calibration. Measurement accuracy is better than 2 μm/m (strain) and better than 0.1 °C (temperature), with spatial resolution of up to 20 cm over shorter distances or 1 m over 50 km.
