About Fine Funghi AG

Fine Funghi AG is a Swiss organic mushroom farm based in Gossau ZH that has been cultivating mushrooms organically since 1988. The company produces white button mushrooms, shiitake, king oyster mushrooms, oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus) and pioppino with Bio Knospe certification and supplies the Swiss organic trade. In Gossau ZH, shiitake, king oyster mushrooms, pioppino and Pleurotus are cultivated; white button mushroom production to organic standard takes place in Wauwil. The mushrooms grow on substrate blocks made of wood chips or sawdust, enriched with organically produced nutrients such as maize, bran, sunflower seeds and soybean hulls. The substrate is disinfected with steam, filled into bags and, after a mycelium colonization phase of three to thirteen weeks, cultivated in climate-controlled growing rooms. Harvesting takes place daily by hand, without chemically synthetic fungicides and insecticides; instead, the farm relies on hygienic care and mechanical pest control. Since early 2017, Fine Funghi AG has belonged to Wauwiler AG as part of a succession arrangement. In addition to direct sales from the growing facility, the company offers guided tours of the production facility as well as mushroom growing kits.
