About First Ammonia
First Ammonia plans and builds ammonia plants that operate entirely on variable renewable energy. Instead of fossil feedstocks, ammonia is produced from water and nitrogen extracted from the air, with the modular plant design enabling flexible operation under fluctuating solar and wind input. The company's flagship project is located at the Port of Victoria in the US state of Texas: construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with operations planned to start in 2029. The region offers abundant solar and wind resources as well as a long-standing energy industry infrastructure and skilled workforce. According to the company, every 100,000 tons of electrically produced ammonia avoids around 240,000 tons of CO₂ emissions compared with fossil-based ammonia. The product targets applications in shipping, the steel and chemical industries, fertilizers, energy transport, and as an energy storage medium.
