About FLAGA

FLAGA GmbH is an Austrian liquefied gas supplier based in Vienna that has been delivering cylinder gas and tank gas to private and commercial customers in Austria since 1947. The product range includes cylinder gas for household and commercial use – for example for barbecuing, heating and agriculture – as well as gas tanks for industry, commerce and agriculture, plus autogas and diesel gas. With BioMix20, FLAGA offers a bio-propane mix in cylinder gas and also distributes renewable liquefied gas (green gas). The company employs around 110 staff, maintains branches in Vienna, Linz, Volders and Klagenfurt as well as an Austria-wide sales network, and thanks to its own delivery fleet guarantees supply throughout the country. In addition, installation and inspection of liquefied gas systems, repair and maintenance services, a 24-hour gas cylinder vending machine, online ordering and meter reading are offered. Since December 2025, FLAGA GmbH has belonged to DCC Energy Austria and thus to the DCC plc group.

History

1. 1947

   Founded by Adolf Bauer on 26 November 1947 as a trade business for cylinder gas in cylinders for cooking and heating purposes; the name FLAGA as an abbreviation for Flaschengas (cylinder gas).

2. 1959-1961

   Thanks to the economic boom of the late 1950s, the liquefied gas cylinder became established in households and commerce.

3. 1962

   Distribution of the first liquefied gas tanks in Austria – a milestone for the heating comfort of single-family homes and commercial businesses.

4. 1963

   Planning and construction of the first liquefied gas tank truck in cooperation with the Salzburg state government.

5. 1964-1979

   Large industrial businesses switched to liquefied gas to significantly reduce the high pollutant levels of heating oil; founding of the branches in Linz, Graz and Klagenfurt.

6. 1999

   FLAGA GmbH becomes a subsidiary of UGI Corporation – the beginning of a multinational background.

7. 2003

   Founding of FLAGA Suisse as a base in Switzerland.

8. 2025

   As of 26 December 2025, FLAGA GmbH became part of DCC Energy Austria, a subsidiary of the DCC plc group (Dublin, Ireland), one of the largest liquefied gas suppliers in Europe.

9. 2026

   Named best liquefied gas supplier in Austria 2026 in the customer survey of the ÖGVS (Society for Consumer Studies).
