About Flensburger Brauerei
Flensburger Brauerei Emil Petersen GmbH & Co. KG is a family-owned major brewery founded in 1888, located on Munketoft in Flensburg. In accordance with the German Purity Law, the company brews a broad range of bottom-fermented beer specialities, including the Flensburger Pilsener produced since 1922 with 38 bitterness units, Helles, Gold, Dunkel, Kellerbier, Bock beers, Strand-Lager as well as non-alcoholic varieties, malt beverage and Radler. All beers are brewed with water from the company's own 240-metre-deep glacier spring of mineral-water quality, malted Küstengerste® (coastal barley), aroma hops and a proprietary pure-culture yeast. The »Merlin« wort boiling process largely preserves vitamins and nutrients; non-alcoholic beers are produced by gentle vacuum rectification at low temperatures. The trademark is the swing-top bottle, which is also used for 2-litre Mega-Plop containers. In addition, the brewery produces a mineral water from two artesian wells and, with the Waldbrand GmbH distillery, distills FLENS Bierbrand (beer brandy) and FLENS Whisky in oak casks.
