About the Forschungsbrauerei
The Forschungsbrauerei in Munich-Perlach was founded in 1930 by Gottfried Jakob, who researched new beer styles and brewing technologies using experimental methods and received more than 50 patents for this. In 1936 a new building was constructed with a brewing system in a tower made of solid copper, preserved to this day, which is regarded as a protected industrial monument. In the same year, the Bräustüberl opened as a 'testing station' where guests could taste the beers. After several changes of leaseholders and a temporary closure, the Hopfenhäcker creative brewery, previously based in Haidhausen, moved into the premises in 2021 and brews there with its own brewhouse, while the historic tower brewing system is preserved. The offering includes the Bräustüberl with gastronomy open all year round, a seasonal beer garden, seasonal beers such as festival beer and strong beer, as well as the rental of the premises for birthday, corporate and farewell parties.
