About FGK

The Forschungsinstitut für Glas – Keramik (FGK) GmbH in Höhr-Grenzhausen has been supporting companies in the glass, ceramics and raw materials industries for more than 40 years in materials development, materials testing and raw material analysis. The institute's pilot plant covers almost the entire process chain for the production of ceramic products: from powder technology with comminution, homogenization and granulation, via shaping by pressing, extrusion, casting and additive manufacturing, to thermal treatment with binder removal, sintering (up to 1950 °C) and hot isostatic pressing (up to 2000 °C / 3000 bar). Silicate ceramics and technical ceramics as well as glass, glazes and enamels are processed. The accredited testing laboratory offers testing methods for glass, ceramics, raw materials and industrial minerals, including ceramic testing, glass analysis and tile testing. Applications lie in technical ceramics, dental ceramics, sanitary and structural ceramics, additive manufacturing, optical components, photocatalysis as well as food-contact materials.
