About FWG Templin
FWG Fernwärmegesellschaft mbH Templin is a regional energy service provider that has been supplying apartments and commercial properties in the town of Templin with local and district heating for over 30 years. The company operates two generation plants, the Nord boiler house and the Süd boiler house, to which a total of 1,616 apartments and 30 commercial units are connected. In addition, FWG operates 45 decentralised gas-fired heating systems that supply around 650 apartments and commercial units with local heat. In the Nord supply area, more than 80 percent of the heat supply has come from renewable primary energy in the form of biogas since 2007, supplied by Agrarbetrieb Röddelin GmbH. Since 2019, a leased CHP unit (50 kW electrical, 80 kW thermal) at the Süd boiler house has contributed to electricity and heat generation. Further services include maintenance and servicing of heating systems, an emergency breakdown service, and heating cost billing for over 1,000 apartments. The company is a 100% subsidiary of WOBA Templin-UM (HRB 907, AG Neuruppin) based in Templin in Brandenburg.

Energy sources and generation processes
Biogas (bio-heat)
Since 2007, biogas has covered more than 80 percent of the heat supply in the Nord supply area from renewable primary energy.
Natural gas
Main energy source, procured from Stadtwerke Prenzlau GmbH, for district heating and 45 decentralised systems.
Heating oil (reserve)
The dual-fuel burner of the gas condensing boiler at the Süd boiler house allows the use of oil in an emergency.
Combined heat and power (CHP)
Leased unit with 50 kW electrical / 80 kW thermal generates electricity for own consumption and feeds waste heat into the district heating network.
Geothermal energy
Since 2023, a working group has been investigating the use of hot deep water as a future energy source.
