About G&S Metallwerk GmbH
G&S Metallwerk GmbH operates a fully enclosed waste processing facility for non-hazardous waste in Edt bei Lambach, dedicated to the recovery of non-ferrous metals. On a 19,000 m² site, metal-bearing shredder waste, commercial waste, e-scrap, mixed scrap and non-ferrous metal mixtures are processed dry in 4,000 m² of halls – no heavy-metal-containing wastewater is generated. The modularly designed facility comprises 292 individual units (320 at full expansion) with 2 MW connected load and eight sensor-based sorting machines including X-ray technology for the separation of chrome-nickel, aluminium, brass, copper and cables. More than 26 output routes deliver smelter-ready output materials such as copper granulate, brass, aluminium and chrome-nickel steel; every fraction is weighed and balanced fully automatically. Iron scrap is shredded upstream via the parent company Gebrüder Gratz Ges.m.b.H.'s shredder plant (1,250 kW, 40 t/hr). The company offers toll processing and processing with individual sorting targets, as well as marketing of the output materials.

Materials
Copper / copper granulate
Separated from non-ferrous metal mixtures and fine fractions and delivered in smelter-ready form.
Brass
Recovered by sensor-based sorting from coarse and fine metal processing as a grade-pure output material.
Aluminium / aluminium cans
Separated from mixed scrap, shredder waste and grain sizes 0/12 to 55/120 mm.
Chrome-nickel steel
Separated from the metal stream by sensor-based and X-ray sorting.
Iron scrap
Shredded via the parent company's shredder plant followed by sorting.
Non-ferrous metal scrap
Approved input material (EU waste list) for metal processing.
Shredder heavy fraction
Approved waste type for recovery of the contained non-ferrous metals.
Aluminium/aluminium foils
Approved waste code number for aluminium-containing input materials.

Balancing and Environment
Each of the 26 output routes is equipped with fully automatic in-line weighing; the data is recorded in a supplier database and provides transparent accounting of the treated waste. The dry processing avoids heavy-metal-containing wastewater; organic waste remains in Austria for thermal recovery.
